Photographers always boast of special, unique packages that they proffer to clients, but no matter how distinct each package is, there always will be certain elements that are present in all packages. In choosing your ideal wedding photographer and/or package, it would be a good idea to first look at these elements. Examples of these common elements are the photographers pricing, the equipment he/she will use, and the number (and price) of his/her photographic assistants.
Though there are a multitude of packages to choose from, some specialized packages call for a number of make-up artists, hairstylists, or photographers. Though quite pricey, having more than one cameraman to record the precious moments of the big day, for example, sometimes helps, as some of the equipment used in photography may inexplicably fail just when they are needed the most. In choosing photographers, one should also take particular note of the equipment being used by the photographer in question. Does he/she employ the newest high-quality cameras? Because doing so would almost always mean higher-resolution images compared to those who use or employ obsolete or lower-quality ones. Whichever is the case, the client should always be afforded the final say on which wedding package to choose. This enables him/her to choose a package that is within the budget allocation. The cardinal rule to remember though is that the more specialized a package is, the more expensive it gets.
An often-overlooked yet crucial aspect of wedding photography is the photo albums to be used. Do you want your wedding photo albums to look almost identical to most others, or would you want them to stand out? Some photographers possess the ability and creativity to custom-design your photo albums, and some even allow their clients to preview the designs before they are even printed out. One can choose whether the photographic images will be printed on canvas, linen, or some lustrous or metallic material, and the size of the photos can also be chosen. Another idea would be to have the images saved on DVD or some other media and/or video format, accompanied by a slideshow mechanism that displays the images one by one (some even have transition effects) while soft music plays in the background. Gone are the days wherein your only option are hardcopies of your wedding photos. Although the going rate for these packages vary, as a general rule, take note that the more sophisticated and stylized the package is, the higher are the rates.
Some enterprising photographers even offer after-wedding packages, wherein the newlyweds are accompanied to their honeymoon destination by a photographer or two. Usually, if the location is within their immediate vicinity, the photographers even arrange and take charge of the transportation, but if it is out of the ordinary, the client will have to shoulder the photographers travel costs as well as their accommodation and meals.
An expensive wedding photography package doesn’t always translate to the best results, and with the dizzying variety of packages being offered by photographers, the best you could do would be to design your own package and ask the photographer to follow it. It would also be a great idea to first research on the various packages before choosing one. This way, you’re guaranteed to get a fair price. Your friends might be of help, too; those who have had packages similar to yours could help you cut down on costs by offering tips and/on their first-hand experiences. This beats having to evaluate, without the benefit of experience, the hundreds of packages being offered by photographers.
